MUST DO
Despite TLC’s famous lyrics ‘Don’t go chasing waterfalls’ that's exactly what we think you should do. Located a 30-minute drive away from central Byron Bay is the magnificent, Killen Falls. A large natural swimming hole with a 10m waterfall at one end that makes it a perfect Instagram photo opportunity.
Spend the day relaxing on the rocks with your favourite BB Tanning Oil. If you’re more on the adventurous side, you can even swim behind the waterfall and enjoy the shade in the cave that sits behind it. Pack your GoPro, snorkels and get exploring.
Everyone knows that the best hour on vacay is happy hour. Enjoy cocktails, fresh local produce and tapas on the balcony at the famous, Balcony Bar. Happy Hour is from 4pm - 6pm every day. An Aperol Spritz paired alongside the ocean breeze and easygoing vibe, it is an afternoon very well spent if we dont say so ourselves.
It’s time to hit the beach. Nothing beats a relaxing day on the Byron Bay Main Beach, however if you’re yet to explore its surrounding sandy beaches we recommend a day of it. Our favourites? MUST SEE
Byron Bay has a special type of magic to it and if you have ever watched the sunset from the Byron Bay Lighthouse you will understand why. The Lighthouse is located upon Australia’s most easterly point and the views are nothing short of amazing. Go with your boyfriend, bestie or take a break by yourself. There is nothing quite like waking up with the sunset then grabbing a coffee and watching the morning waves go by. Hello, serenity!
You can either get to the Lighthouse via the walking trial from Byron Bay’s Main Beach which will take you around 45 minutes each way or jump in the car and drive up. Tip: Drive up to watch the sunrise but do the lighthouse walk on another day, the view never gets old.
Hire bikes, pack a picnic and explore Byron through one of its hundreds of biking trails. Its acres of rolling hills and natural beauty provide the most beautiful backdrop.
If staying close to the water is more your thing, then test your balance with stand up paddle boarding. Whether you’re good or bad, you’re guaranteed to get a great workout and a good laugh in the sun - what else can a gal want?
MUST EAT
A good vacay is never complete without some delicious foodie heaven and Byron Bay does not disappoint. Serving up fresh produce from its local farmers and seafood straight from the ocean, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Bayleaf and Combi are our top picks for a mouth-watering and colourful breakfast and brunch. Combi offers a range of vegan and vegetarian friendly options while Bayleaf will satisfy all your cravings with its fresh coffee and large menu made from locally sourced produce. Can't decide between the two? Do both and repeat.
If you’re celebrating a special occasion then Raes on Wategos is a must do. Located on the beautiful Watego’s Beach, Raes offers a uniquely ‘Byron’ restaurant experience with interiors that will make you wishing you lived there.
Three Blue Ducks at The Farm and Graze Restaurant at Elements of Byron are another two picks for a delicious meal and atmosphere. If you’re after something a little more fun and casual after a long day at the beach, then tacos and cocktails at Miss Margarita are for you. A Mexican fiesta is always a good idea!
