A few things might spring to mind when you think of essential oils - skeptical, hippy and huh? are a few of them.
If you’re unsure why essential oils are so popular, then you may have never experienced the calmness and zen towards life's little worries they bring. Whether you need help sleeping or have bad tummy cramps, there's an essential oil for everything. First things first, what are essentials oils? Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts that retain the natural smell and flavour, or “essence” of their source. Technically, they aren’t actually oils at all, as they lack fatty acids. They’re made from the leaves, herbs, barks and rinds from certain plants then concentrated into a range of oils to smell, soak in, clean with and more. Whether you’re on the essential oils train already, or have absolutely no idea what they do, here’s how you can start to incorporate these little bottles of heaven into your own at-home remedies.
Use them to enhance your bath
Everyone knows that a good essential oil can be used in a diffuser, but did you know that you can add a couple of drops to your bath? The heat will cause the scent to rise, filling your entire bathroom with the dreamy relaxing essence. Using an essential oil like lemon, orange and lavender will make your bathroom feel like a total zen den while you read your favourite book and soak your skin in our Natural Tanning & Body Oil.
Use them to enhance your sleep
If you need a little help falling asleep each night, lavender oil is going to be your best friends. You can either diffuse 3-4 drops in your diffuser or make your own lavender spray with a few drops of essential oil mixed with water in a spray bottle. Spray the solution on your pillows at night for a good night's sleep. Lavender is the perfect synthetic free fragrance to help you sleep like a baby and wake up feeling well rested.
Use them to relieve a cold and flu
If you’re feeling a little under the weather, reach for your best winter oils in the form of eucalyptus and orange. Eucalyptus will provide relaxation and relief when you’ve come down with a stuffy nose. Orange on the other hand provides a boost of energy and is perfect for when you need a little extra pep. Put a few drops of orange essential oil in a diffuser while you’re getting ready for the day and then have the eucalyptus by your side to get you (and your runny nose) through the day.
Use them to make your own face masks
Mix your favourite essential oil with oats and a small amount of the Bali Body Luxe Moisturising Lotion for the easiest exfoliating face mask ever. Invite your best babes over to catch up and make a girls night full of face masks, gossip and Netflix.
Use them to help with headaches
There’s nothing worse than getting a headache and not being able to get rid of it no matter what you try. Next time an unwanted migraine comes along, grab some peppermint oil and diffuse 3 drops for 30-45 minutes while you lay down. If you’re at work and can’t just go have a little snooze, mix 1-2 drops of peppermint oil with your Natural Tanning & Body Oil and rub it into your temples and forehead. The menthol in peppermint has been proven to reduce headaches when applied to the temples.
#BBProTip: Never apply an oil directly to your skin. Mixing it with a coconut based oil like our Natural Tanning & Body Oil makes for the perfect carrier oil to ensure your skin is safe from the concentration.
If you haven't already planned your girls night with face masks yet, then you know what to do babes.
