We’re all about inspiring and encouraging #girlpower at Bali Body. One babe who is living her best #girlboss life is Hermione Underwood.
Founder of company H Collective, co-founder of jewelry label Atelier Romy and creator of the most envied style & travel blog, this is one busy babe. Now based in London, she’s still an Aussie babe at heart. Like her style, she has made her success look effortless. However, Hermione has put in some serious hard work to get where she is today.
What does a day in the life of H look like?
Every day is very different for me. I travel a lot but wherever I am, it always starts with coffee, emails and calls with clients. Working across multiple businesses means no two days are the same but that’s the way I like it. I’m fairly self-disciplined and my days start early. I find mornings my most productive time so I try to have meetings on set days and generally, later in the day. Days mean shoots, meetings and ‘real work’ time - budgets, guest lists, styling, pitching to press or other influencers… as I said, never the same and always varied.
You’re a busy boss babe, what’s a ‘treat yourself’ moment look like to you?
A long bath!
You’re a globe-trotting goddess, what are your top tips for traveling?
Pack light and only pack your favourite things! I used to overpack and think I was going to finally wear that shoe, that dress… no, no - you’ll end up wearing the favourite piece you feel comfortable in. Also, I never eat on planes… sounds weird but you’ll feel so much better if you don’t. Just hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. I’m the annoying passenger asking for glass after glass of water.
What has been your happiest/proudest moment this year?
This has actually been my best year yet career wise. I’ve signed amazing clients under my consultancy, The H Collective, which I recently relaunched and I’m really proud of the work we’re doing together, bringing Australian brands into the UK market and British brands into the AUS market.
I’m also working with a small group of incredible clients through my blog, developing content with longer-term alignments and Ambassador roles which is hugely exciting. Aside from that, building my brands Atelier Romy and Espie Roche is interesting and keeps me busy and learning.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned and how has it shaped you today?
Loaded question! I guess being patient and practicing gratitude… being in the moment and appreciating what you have, and where you are, right now.
Where is your favourite place in the world and what makes it so special?
I have a few favourites. Obviously, Australia will always be home… particularly Balmoral Beach in Sydney where I grew up in the sand. Byron Bay is arguably the most beautiful place on earth and holds many special memories. London is my adopted home and a city I am so proud to live in. And Kenya is my favourite holiday destination… Africa is deeply spiritual and moving. I hope to go back soon.
What advice would you offer to the other boss babes out there?
My grandfather used to say ‘the harder I worked, the luckier I became’. A positive attitude is everything. Have a vision and strategy and then go after it with everything you have.
